It finally took its toll! After last weekend’s lucky break (or should I say blessing), worsening traffic conditions around the metropolis thwarted the gang’s resolve of making it to the room to jam with just a singular house band personality around to join me. The list of song assignments we had discussed and prepared to play last night will have to wait another time. But, as always, no matter how grim the situation seemed to be, something prodigious will eventually occur to compensate. When did it ever fail?
Among the house band guys who came to join me, it was only percussionist Vincent Garrucho who did show up. The rest were just simply unavailable and with some attempting to try but deciding to turn back and abort being stuck in traffic on their way over.
As always unpredictable, with the impending doom, the festivity suddenly picked up quickly and turned into a spectacle with a horde of newbie guest musicians lording the stage and come backing old friends flocking the room as well. Seeing friends who had not been around for quite a while is always a thrill for me.
It was awesome to see Coy and Tin Dayrit back in the room. Coy and Tin (they were still single then) were music room old timers and in a band together way back in the late 90’s. Coy was the band’s percussionist and Tin was their guitarist/vocalist. Now a couple, Coy is currently busy as an airline pilot and Tin, a dotting house wife and a mother to two beautiful children. After 9 years or so, I am happy that the two had resurrected from hibernation and is back in stride doing something they love to do, making music. Welcome back to the music room guys.
Last week’s newbie guitarist, Mias Oxinio, indeed returned and fulfilled his intension of bringing his band over to play. He arrived in full force with some band mates and a few other musician friends and did a great job. With the house band nonexistent last night, the newbie group had gotten full dominion of the stage all night. They took charge of the entertainment and subsequently doing the accompaniment for the vocalists who eventually gamely joined in.
It was likewise great to see Mark Longos back in the room after a long time in absentia. He came along with another comebacker, Emman Yuzon. I am truly glad that Mark had made good his intention of finally coming back to the room. After all, Mark had always been a regular fixture of the music room before. Welcome back Mark and Emman!
Our utmost gratitude to Ryan Nacino, Pau Villanueva, Gab Villanueva, Rich Cruz, sis-in-law Tintin Mara-Reed, Myron Reyes and to all the other guests and musicians for dropping by and making the evening a resounding success. Muchos gracias amigos y amigas!
And so, what can I say? Another successful and gratifying night had transpired despite traffic and all. As always, I thank and praise God for the blessings.
Let’s see what’s in store next week. Till then……
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE! GOD BLESS US ALL!
